Gary and Joanne Sanderson are both western Massachusetts natives
- he from South Deerfield, she from Hampden. They share a love of
history and Americana, collecting such things as Whately
stoneware, copper luster, cast-iron cookware, sporting art, and
American period furniture, among other things. Connecticut Valley
history and genealogy are two subjects covered extensively in
their library.
Gary is a journalist who has spent a lifetime exploring the
Franklin County woods and waters, and two decades writing about
it. An avid hunter and fisherman, his favorite pastimes are
upland bird hunting (over English springer spaniel Ringo), turkey
and deer huinting and fly-fishing for trout. Guided hunting and
fishing trips are available by appointment.
Gary and Joanne live with their teen-aged sons, Gary II and Ryan,
at Old Tavern Farm.
